Signs of compressor problems: unit not reaching temperature despite running constantly, compressor making loud knocking or grinding sounds, compressor starting and stopping rapidly (short cycling), compressor not starting at all, or high pressure shutdowns. Walk-in door gaskets typically last 2-4 years and should be inspected every 6 months. Signs of failing gaskets: visible tears or cracks, frost buildup near the door frame, condensation on the door frame, noticeably warmer temperatures near the door, or the door not staying closed. A failing gasket forces the compressor to work harder, increasing energy costs and reducing equipment life.
